The only two guitars I’ve ever seen with Argentine Brown Ebony back and sides were this one, and another one I built at the same time. Caesalpinia paraguariensis is a true ebony, and is hard and dense, with a ringing, metallic tap tone, like the finer rosewoods. I suppose the reason this wonderful wood isn’t seen on many guitars is, not much of it makes it up to the Northern Hemisphere. I’ve only seen it for sale once, and I bought enough for only two guitars.

Argentine Ebony, paired with this fine AAA German Spruce top, makes this guitar very loud, deep, and articulate sounding, with phenomenal sustain and a wide dynamic range. If you are familiar with Stefan Sobel guitars being played by Martin Simpson, that’s a good description of the kind of sound this guitar puts out. Fluent, melodic, focused, and powerful...

While this guitar sounds wonderful in standard tuning, an extra dimension in tone opens up when you tune down to D- and even C-based tunings. I’ve kept this guitar in my personal arsenal since it was first built, for this very reason. Unfortunately, since I’m constantly building new guitars, this  Performance Venetian doesn’t get nearly the amount of playing time it deserves. This guitar is in new, showroom condition, and is not a “used” guitar. The full warranty applies.

This is a fine guitar, and needs and deserves a good home, in the hands of a discerning player.

My asking price for the Argentine EP Venetian is $3400 USD, which is about $1400 less than current price for this model, with these woods and appointments. Hardshell case and FULL WARRANTY are included.  I will send this guitar out on approval, so you can play it for a few days and decide if it's a keeper; so long as you are okay with paying the shipping costs, if you decline. I am quite confident you will love this guitar, because it is a great player with an awesome tone. But ultimately, YOU decide if this is the guitar you want.

The woods on this guitar are:

Back and sides (and bridge): Argentine Brown Ebony (Caesalpinia paraguariensis)

Top: AAA German Spruce

Neck shaft: Three-piece Honduran Mahogany with Argentine ebony center lam.

Gabon ebony bindings on the body, fingerboard, and headstock,

with rust veneer, mitered purfling lines.

Madagascar Rosewood fingerboard and front headstock plate; Argentine ebony rear headstock plate.

Top purflings are wood, half-chevron marquetry; the rosette is Ebony rings, Amboyna burl,

and ebony tiles, with red/black/rust veneer lines, in a Compass pattern.

The bridge is a Talon 6.3 style, with fully intonated bone saddle and

Rosewood, Parisian eye bridge pins.

This is basically a Grand Auditorium or SJ size category, my largest model.

Lower bout width: 16 1/4" Waist: 9 5/8" Upper bout: 11 3/4"

Lower bout depth: 3 7/8" Waist: 4 1/14" Upper bout: 3 7/8" The waist is the deepest part of the soundbox, a standard feature in all Edwinson guitars.

Total guitar length is 41 3/16".

This, and most of my other guitars, are finished in McFadden's Nitrocellulose lacquer. Fingerboards and bridges are sealed with Tru-Oil catalyzed oil finish.

The neck specs:

Width @ nut: 1 13/16"

Width @ neck/body: 2 5/32"

Saddle spread: 2 1/4"

Scale length: 25.375"   FB radius 16"

Fourteen frets-to-body, 21 total frets. StewMac #152 Nickel/silver

Tuners: Gotoh 510 Mini, Nickel finish;

Truss rod is a Luthier's Mercantile TRST, two way adjustable rod, access at headstock.

The neck has a slim, fast, modern C-carve and

a clean-playing, fast, medium/ low action.

The included case is a Guardian brand, CG-044-D vintage-style, arched-top, five ply hard case with black Tolex exterior, crushed green velvet padded interior, brass hardware, and padded leather handle. It's a great case for light duty, gigs-about-town; but you'll need a stouter case for your next world tour. (Custom fitted Ameritage case can be ordered for this guitar.)

Again, I'm asking $3400 USD for this Argentine Performance Venetian. This is a great instrument, wonderful sound, great setup and ergonomics, very versatile, highly responsive, sturdy and dependable, and in mint ++ condition. This could wind up being your favorite all-around guitar for gigging, couch surfing, and recording
