The EZ Zephyr 00 Guitar
The EZ Zephyr 00 Guitar
The Edwinson EZ Zephyr is the most recent addition to the Edwinson Tribe, debuting on Christmas day 2010, but has quickly jumped into the top spot in my own heart. I love a really good 00-size guitar.
At only 14 1/4” wide in the lower bout, it’s verging on being a small guitar; yet it still has lots of air and space in it, a loud and articulate voice, and that inimitable, intoxicating double-0 vibe that you get with some guitars that have the spirit well-imbued in them.
Different wood combinations, selected for certain properties, make these small guitars truly individual and unique. Like sisters and brothers in a big family, they have a familial resemblance, but each one has a unique identity and character.
Most Zephyrs so far have been Cutaways, with thirteen frets to the body, twenty total. They seem to want to be mostly fingerstyle and light pick style guitars. If you’re a high-octane flatpicker or rhythm artist, you may want a bigger guitar. But for highly expressive fingerstyle and a lighter pick-style, the Zephyr 00 excels. These guitars project really well, and they are quite loud when you dig in, especially for a 00-size guitar. And they have an amazing amount of sustain and tone color. They are not shy little wallflowers.
The Zephyr 00 is a highly versatile, fully customizable guitar. I build them in Standard, Venetian Cutaway, and Florentine Cutaway versions, with either twelve or thirteen frets to the body (twenty frets total), and in scale lengths ranging from 24” to 25 3/4”. The Zephyr is also highly amenable to Multi-scale (fanned-fret) configurations.
You can also opt for the standard Talon style bridge, or the new Element style bridge; and also choose either a Pogoda style slotted headstock, or the standard Delta style.
You will find a list of general specifications for the Zephyr 00 model at the bottom of this page.
